Removing Roadblocks for Researchers

Mariah

Mariah was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when she was only two years old. Now a survivor, she is working in a lab that could uncover better treatments for kids suffering from the same deadly disease. She hopes research can be part of her career, but she’s learned that it can be a tricky business, especially for young scientists.

“It can be extremely frustrating and puzzling,” Mariah said. “Breakthrough discoveries do not happen overnight, and experiments do not always go as planned. However, this only makes the things that go right ever more exciting and rewarding.”

Young researchers are full of ideas, but they often can’t get the funding to test them out. The pool of money available is shrinking, and applying for funding is especially daunting for those early in their careers.

By supporting Children’s Cancer Research Fund, you’re helping remove this roadblock. You’ve provided grants to highly qualified postdoctoral students so they have the freedom to test out their ideas. You’ve helped foster the next generation of brilliant researchers and made sure there’s nothing in the way of finding potentially lifesaving treatments.

Supporters like you show Mariah that not only are we working towards better treatments for the cancer she survived, but we’re empowering young researchers to find mentors test out their ideas, and continually work towards the next lifesaving breakthrough.
