The Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission through year-round support of our fundraising events. The role requires a strong blend of program and event management: driving participant engagement, managing vendor and volunteer relationships, and delivering brand-aligned, high-touch experiences to supporters, sponsors, and donors.
This position reports to the Sr. Events Manager and plays a critical role in the full engagement cycle for key fundraising program participants, from inspiring and recruiting, to coaching, stewardship, and impact sharing, while also supporting broader development and engagement campaigns year-round.
This position is hybrid and does require at least 2 days in office.
Responsibilities of this role:
- Coordinate and project manage all activities of our Great Cycle Challenge (GCC), ensuring seamless execution and alignment with participant engagement and fundraising goals.
- Cultivate and manage a portfolio of GCC participant groups and teams, building strong relationships that drive fundraising success, retention, and long-term engagement.
- Implement strategies to inspire, coach, and steward GCC bicycle riders throughout the full engagement cycle (recruitment, activation, training, recognition, re-engagement)
- Collaborate with vendors, and cross-departmentally with communications, technology, and finance to streamline systems, enhance participant experience, and ensure program efficiency
- Provide monthly input for program budgeting
- Assist with training and act as lead resource for Inbound Communications/Participant Stewardship team
- Shape and execute stewardship and re-engagement strategies for riders, team captains, and select donors
- Work closely with our Family Programs department to integrate ambassador participation, enhancing storytelling and participant inspiration
- Assist the Development team with planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events (e.g., virtual events, peer-to-peer activations, stewardship experiences)
- Help maintain event budgets, vendor tracking, and registration logistics
- Schedule and support team meetings, including notetaking, follow-ups, and materials preparation
- Maintain updated event documentation, assets, and internal resource libraries
- Support donor and participant stewardship, recognition mailings, and impact updates
- Provide day-of support (virtual or onsite) as needed for event execution
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of work experience in a related field
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and teams with attention to detail and quality
- Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal—with a donor-first mindset
- Experience with CRM/event platforms (Salesforce, Classy, Luminate) and project management tools preferred
- Demonstrated success in participant engagement, stewardship, and fundraising coaching
- Positive, collaborative spirit and ability to work occasional evenings/weekends during key campaign period
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in program coordination
- Experience in being a project lead for various events
- Experience working in the nonprofit industry
- Experience with fundraising events
Pay
- $27.64-$31.87 per hour ($57,500 - $66,300 annualized) DOE
- This role is non-exempt (you will be paid overtime for any work over 40 hours in a week)
- This position is full-time, M-F, and will require 2-3 days in the office (depending on season), occasional Saturdays and evenings for event work
