Randy Moss has spent his career making unforgettable moments on the football field. But in this episode of Chasing10, one of his most meaningful moments happens far away from the stadium – on a boat, with a fishing rod in hand and a new friend by his side.

Randy welcomed childhood cancer survivor Isaac aboard his custom iKon LXE21 Elite "Rookie of the Year" edition boat for a day of bass fishing on Minnesota’s waters. What started as a fishing trip quickly became something much more: a conversation about sports, life, perseverance and the things that bring people together.

For Isaac, the day was a chance to do what he loves most – fish, talk football and spend time outdoors. Moments that looked very different seven years ago, because in 2018, Isaac’s family wasn’t driving to ball games or fishing spots.

“He had just gone to the movies,” Isaac’s mom, Jennifer, said. “His hands and joints were super swollen. I thought ‘Oh, he must have put too much salt on the popcorn.’”

His family took him to the hospital, where doctors delivered the news – acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

“His mortality really flashed before my eyes that day,” Jennifer admits.

At just 5 years old, Isaac began a difficult treatment journey that included high-dose chemotherapy, hospital stays and complications that made him a high-risk patient. When standard treatments weren’t enough, research offered another path forward. An immunotherapy treatment – originally approved for adults but adapted for children – helped send Isaac into remission, followed by a lifesaving bone marrow transplant.

“I will forever be grateful to the wonderful medical staff that helped our family every step of the way through Isaac's cancer journey,” Jennifer said. “We believe in the science and research that helps all of the children touched by cancer.”

As Randy and Isaac spent the day on the water, their conversation flowed from fishing techniques to favorite players. They talked about Justin Jefferson, Randy’s time in the NFL and even Isaac’s favorite baseball team, the Packers.

But one of the most meaningful moments came when they talked about their shared cancer journeys.

"I heard that you had cancer, too," Isaac told Randy.

"That's why I teamed up, to help other kids like yourself," Randy replied.

Through Chasing a Cure, Randy is using his platform to support children and families affected by childhood cancer and help fuel the research that brings better treatments and brighter futures.

Even though the fish weren't biting, the day was filled with moments Isaac will remember.

Randy shared fishing tips, encouraged Isaac’s cast and made sure he left with something special. When Isaac mentioned that his fishing rod was worn out, Randy handed him the one they had been using.

"It's yours now."

But the greatest gift was the promise that came with it.

"This won't be our only time fishing together," Randy told him.

The two made plans to get back on the water and chase Isaac’s personal-best bass.

Then came one more surprise.

After returning to shore, Isaac met Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell, who stopped by to celebrate the day. The surprise continued when Coach O’Connell invited Isaac and his family to experience a Vikings game from behind the scenes – including being part of the excitement as the team takes the field.

For Isaac, it was an unforgettable experience.

For everyone involved, it was a reminder of why these moments matter.

Because sometimes the best memories aren’t about what you catch.

They’re about who you’re with.
